On Saturday as it was such a nice day down in Southampton me and Dale decided it would be a good idea to drive to the New Forest. The problem was we didn't quite know where to go so after we left the M27 we just drove around until we found a nice spot to sit and just chill. As we were driving we kept coming across a lot of horses. This panicked me slightly as I have never had to contend with wild horses before, how was i supposed to know what to do if one just stopped in the middle of the road!! Anyway we eventually found a nice spot with a little pub and a shop and thought we would stop for a drink and look at the horses (not go anywhere near them you just cant trust them) and as I was about to turn the corner to park the car the horses were on the move. However instead of just walking straight into the road presuming they have the right of way (like many people do!!) the horse stopped and waited for us to pass.
Who would have thought it, horses are more polite than humans.

Claire, no, they're just trying to draw you in. You had it right when you said "you just can't trust them"!!! Sorry, I have horse issues!!
Lol!!! Dale didn't understand why I didnt want to sit on the bench in the middle of the bit of green, it was just too close, the horses were nibbling the people who were sitting there. How is that cute or fun!!
I used to live in Southampton as a child and many a Saturday would find us as a family taking a picnic into the New Forest. Those were the days you could literally walk and walk all over the New Forest, before they put up the fencing. One Saturday, those blessed horses, decided our picnic looked tastier than the grass and moved in!!! We packed up, threw everything into the boot and legged it into the car, Mum and I went for the front seat, together!!! Not a lot of room, even though I was a child. We sat in the car, slightly squashed, thinking they would eventually give up, but Dad had forgotten to close the boot. Needless to say, we went hungry!!! Don't like those New Forest horses!!! Thanks for the memory though!
I'm not fussy about where the horses come from - I just don't like them!!!
Did Dale see Jimothy?
Lol not that he said. Who's Jimothy, I don' think I have heard that story!!
Aah, good old Jimothy!
To be honest, I'm not quite sure how the legend came to be (Kirsty, can you fill us in?). All I know is that somewhere in the New Forest there is a horse named Jimothy, and every time we go there, we have to find him and say hello!
I think it is also worth mentioning that while the New Forest horses have a good roadside manner, they don't seem to have a problem with public displays of affection.....(!)
That's pretty much it. We went to the New Forest once and Lee named one of the horses Jimothy. He's been Jimothy ever since, and yes - we always look out for him.
We love the New Forest ! Had great holiday last year there. In one place the horses were even poking their heads into the shop doorways..lovely place though.
These horses appear to actually be humans, they even appear to go shopping if Ann's comment is anything to go by!!
